Photos of castles, palaces, fortresses, temples, cathedrals, monasteries - Guatemala

The name Guatemala, which means "land of forests", comes from one of the Mayan dialects that inhabited this region during the Spanish conquest. About half of the country's population are direct descendants of the ancient Mayans, who left a sign the ruins of their cities - the main attractions of Guatemala. Photographs of ancient architecture against the backdrop of majestic volcanoes and high mountain ranges today attract thousands of tourists here in search of lost cities.
